Living a healthy lifestyle eventually makes us look deeper for happiness and self-expression. “Follow your bliss,”  “live your dreams” are ideals we often keep on the back burner, but we have a guest this week who is living his dream, traveling with a team of two Belgian draft horses and one Percheron, his photo (left) as he drove into Pagosa Springs from the south.

We thought Bob Skelding Wagonteamster and his team would like to get off the road for a bit, so we extended the invite to enjoy spring grass in our pasture and he happily accepted.

We discovered many  serendipitous things – which tells us “we’re all in the right place at the right time,” especially when you live your dream. He’s from the same home-town as me, and his grandfather raised the draft horses I fell in love with as a child at our state fair. Randall gave him a sketch he’d done years ago of a friend’s draft horses here, and Bob drove in with the same pairing of horses as in that sketch. Then our friend Luanne (whose Belgian and Percheron horses inspired the sketch) invited Bob to help her teach a workshop this weekend for women learning to drive draft horses.

Follow your bliss, live your dreams, you’ll meet the most amazing people, you’ll laugh, smile, and rejoice in the magic of life (as in Bob’s photo left). When I was a little girl I dreamed a white stallion lived in the field behind us (we were non-horse people). Little did I know that when Bob Skelding drove his draft horses in our gate and let them loose to play in the spring grass, I would have this flash that my childhood memory of the white stallion and love of draft horses come pouring over me like somehow I had become one with that little girl’s dreams again.

You’ll have to go check out Bob’s detailed journal of his travels at his website http://www.wagonteamster.com and particularly the posts about his visit with us and rest days in southwest Colorado. Stay tuned, we’ll be posting

videos over the next few days of the horses resting and Bob putting in an appearance at Luanne’s class for women driving teams this weekend. We particularly appreciate the nice photo Bob took of us, and we’re having a great time getting to know him, Doc, Billy and Bob, his wonderful gorgeous draft horses. Bob Skelding has come in touch with and shares great core values, capturing some of the magic of life to share with all of us, inspiring us on to live our dreams and follow our bliss. We’re also excited he joined our up-and-coming, Earth-friendly new online community, Virtual Earth Village and posted an article on gardening. We invite you to join us there!
